Once upon a time, I dreamed of opening up my own cat cafe in the Research Triangle Area in North Carolina. I had the perfect name for it, did a business consultation with other successful cat cafe owners, and started dreaming up the plans for what it would look like and how I would try to finance it. However, life has a way of changing plans and instead I'm the proud owner of The Waggly Tail providing dog walking and pet sitting in the Bellevue, WA area.
I seriously love what I'm doing now, but every now and then I get the urge to visit a cat cafe and lucky for us, we have our very own cat cafe in Seattle! Last weekend when I had family visiting, we went to Seattle Meowtropolitan and had a blast.
After making our reservations online, we showed up a few minutes before our appointment time, checked in with the barista and ordered our drinks that kicked off our amazing cat-filled experience. I ordered a hot chocolate complete with a kitty on top (no, not a real one). Someone else got a spiced chai tea latte with another cat sprinkled on top. And the best part is that the drinks (any size/any drink) are included in your reservation cost of $10 for 50 minutes of play time with the kitties.
I can't tell you how good the snacks were since we didn't buy any, but man they are way too cute! I'm a huge fan of the Meowshmallows...but unfortunately I didn't snag a picture of it.
While we waited to be granted entrance into the cat space, we sipped our drinks and watched the cats from the viewing window (which, by the way, anyone can do even without reservations). Shortly after, we were told we could enter and then the fun began!
It's amazing how sweet these cats were and most were used to being pet and could sleep right through it. We did have quite an active bunch of cats while we were there. We went at 7 pm (which is about the time when my cat, Bella, decides it's time to wake up for the day, too).
The worker in the cat space engaged the cats and I'm convinced she had some magical ability to make these cats want to play because we had nonstop entertainment, which can be unusual in a room full of cats who may just want to sleep. But not this bunch at this time! Check out Charlie and his amazing jumping skills!
And then we met Sarge, the sweet kitty who stole everyone's hearts by running across all of our laps and randomly choosing people to share his affection with. I was lucky enough to be one of those people and this happened.
This little kitty climbed up from behind me over my shoulder and laid in my arms and ended up in this position. And fell asleep.
Needless to say, it was very hard to go away without adopting Sarge. (Unfortunately, I still have a 2 pet restriction at my apartment and I am already at the max limit.) It wasn't too sad though. I knew with such a sweet and lovable kitty, he'd be adopted quickly. And actually today, I checked the website and he's no longer on it. So here's hoping that he found his furrever home and is now cuddling on his new mommy or daddy's lap!
Anyway, overall, I absolutely loved going to the cat cafe. I encourage you to stop by if you're ever in the area. It'll definitely cheer you up for the rest of the day! And who knows, maybe you'll find your next purrfect pal!
